MARLBORO PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL:
Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital closed in 1996 and is currently up for sale, and an excellent summary of why can be found here. Similar thinking is why places such as Skillman closed as well, and anyone familiar with weird NJ lore will begin making immediate comparisons. Skillman is 5x larger with 2000 acres and 70 buildings, while Marlboro has 400 acres and perhaps 25-30 buildings. Skillman is completely closed although part of the property became a school for local children. Marlboro still uses some of the rear buildings as part of drug rehab facility. Skillman is heavily patrolled and you will be asked to leave if caught. Marlboro has security in a main gate but you can drive right past because the facility is still partially open. Skillman is generally easy to get into. Marlboro is sealed up tight as a drum, as we discovered when we drove around one Saturday. All I can say is that the buildings have a uniform architecture which makes it visually more interesting then Skillman. Skillman's buildings look like school buildings almost, while the architecture of Marlboro is... different. I can't describe it but there's a hotel type feeling to it, primarily because of the brickwork and woodwork are laid out. I can't quite explain it...
The patient cemetery is nearby and I presume legal to visit. It is definately worth a visit.

I saw your page on Marlboro and figured I'd give you a sneak peak
inside. I agree that they keep that place sealed real tight but every once in a while you
can find a way in. I got into the main building and hit the jackpot when we found the
morgue! Very cool find, had my friend peeing in their pants cause this was on a lower
level where there were no windows so it was completely pitch black. They even had stair
wells that were like the ones in Session 9, with the metal gratings on the interior part
of the stairwell. Enjoy the pics!
